Rare DA40 now available for Sale-SOLD

Check out this amazing deal on a very rare 2007 DA40, N691PS.  Diamond made only a select number of DA40-180s with the GFC 700 autopilot.  This was the precursor to the DA40 XL.  This airplane is ideal for someone who wants the GFC 700 autopilot at a price break compared to the XL.  Also, the useful load is higher on N691PS and the CG range is more forward than the XL or XLS.  The airplane is in excellent condition with only 276 hours of total time as of this writing.  Additional features include

G1000
GFC 700 Autopilot
4 Way Baggage Upgrade
Performance Landing Gear
GDL 69A Satellite XM Weather
Leather Seats
Cockpit Convenience Package
Mode S Transponder (with traffic)
Log Books Available online

Lycoming Key Operations Document

Below is a link from Lycoming regarding proper operations for their engines.  While the majority of the aircraft that I sell have the IO-360 engine, this manual covers Lycoming 's entire line of engines including carbureted, geared and turbocharged engines. This article is not to replace procedures in your POH; it is to provide additional information.  At the end there is a quiz on how well you know your engine.

Need for Additional Pilots

I just read the following article from USA Today about the upcoming worldwide shortage for pilots.  Pilot hiring typically goes through phases with years of low hiring followed by a huge demand for pilots.  Because pilot pay is typically based on seniority, getting in at the right time makes a big difference in pay and your work schedule.  This upcoming hiring phase would appear to be perhaps the largest yet.  If you are wanting to become a pilot, the next few years may offer a great opportunity for you.

Coast to Coast to Coast in a DA40

My wife and I just finished a trip from NC to CA to FL at the end of July.  We took N908DS, a DA40 XLS equipped with Cabin Cool A/C on a 4,000nm+ cross country for fun and to finish an updated certification process on the Cabin Cool A/C.  We broke up the flight over several days to visit family and friends. I can say the trip was fantastic and with the modern avionics onboard, an absolute breeze to fly.  We were luckily to have just missed the haboob that hit Phoenix on the 19th of July.  The XM weather really helped dodge the usual thunderstorms in the desert and humid southeast.  Most of the trip was spent at either 10,000 or 11,000 feet going west of El Paso.  The DA40 had sufficient power even at max gross weight and +20 C above standard temps to fly around the mountains.  The Cabin Cool did a good job of keeping us cool.  While it had a hard time keeping up with the 45 C heat while on the ground in the desert, it was enough to keep from sweating until we could get to higher altitudes.  Everywhere else, the A/C was plenty to keep the temps comfortable inside the cabin.  One of the highlights of the DA40 is the efficiency at higher altitudes.  This is were the powerflow exhaust is really noticable vs the standard exhaust.  Most of the time our fuel burns were in the mid to high 8gph using 2500 RPM, 50 degrees ROP and max MP allowing us good range.  The views in the DA40 were spectacular and below are some of the photos I took along the trip.  The California mountains still had snow and we got some great views of Edwards Air Force base. ATC was nice enough to let us fly through some restricted airspace along the way.  The trip helped me remember how versatile the DA40 is.  Whether you are on a 100nm trip to the beach or 2,000nm trip to the opposite coast, the DA40 is a capable (and comfortable) machine for doing both.
